Patna: Patna Law College organised a legal awareness programme under the NALSA (JAGRITI) Scheme, 2025, focusing on legal literacy and access to justice for young people. The programme was organised by the college’s Legal Services Cell in collaboration with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) and the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Patna, under the guidance of principal Yogendra Kumar Verma.Panel advocate Mamta Kumari and para-legal volunteer Hrishi Raj from DLSA, Patna, addressed students on juvenile justice, access to legal assistance, and the Acid Victim and Bihar Victim Compensation Scheme.An interactive session was also held, during which LLB third-semester students Abhishek Kumar Mishra, Dilip Kumar Pandit, Dheeraj and Tanvi Kumari shared their experiences and observations from a jail visit. The programme concluded with a question-and-answer session highlighting the importance of legal awareness and access to justice.St Michael’s High School wins swimming competitionSt Michael’s High School emerged overall champion at the Master Akshya Kumar Memorial Inter-School Swimming Competition held on Thursday, while Litera Valley School finished first runner-up and Delhi Public School, Patna, secured the second runner-up position. Organised by SMHS, the competition was held in memory of swimming legend Master Akshya Kumar and aimed at encouraging discipline, perseverance and sporting spirit among students.Around 12 schools participated in the championship, competing in freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly and relay events. The competitions were held in four age groups — Under-12, Under-14, Under-17 and Under-19 — for both boys and girls.The event was inaugurated in the presence of chief guest Fr Louis Prakash SJ and principal Fr A Christu Savarirajan SJ. The principal urged participants to focus not only on winning but also on perseverance and fair play. Prizes were distributed to the winners at the conclusion of the competition.Khelo India Samvad at A N CollegeA ‘Khelo India Samvad’ programme was organised at AN College, under the aegis of MY Bharat and the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. Principal Ratna Amrit attended the event along with Pataliputra University NSS coordinator Sujit Dubey and MY Bharat deputy director and district youth officer Priyadarshini.The virtual two-way programme featured discussions on the importance of sports, followed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s address on how sports can help youngsters build a global identity and bring pride to the country.International Wushu medallist Diksha Kumari and para-athlete Soni Kumari shared their experiences. They highlighted discipline, confidence and determination, urging students to pursue sports without fear of failure.4 students top inter-school painting contestArohi Singh of St Michael’s High School, Deepansh Dip of Loyola High School, Anamika Kumari of St Mary’s Academy and Veer Khatri of Infant Jesus School bagged the first positions in four categories at the 14th Brother Raymond Memorial Inter-School Painting Competition organised by Loyola High School, Kurji.The competition saw participation of more than 400 students from 32 schools across Patna. Open to students from Classes III to X, it was divided into four categories based on age groups. The themes ranged from kites and journeys to space, climate change, Indian villages, artificial intelligence and global peace.Satwik Prakash and Nandini Rajlakshmi secured second and third positions in Category A, while Kumar Satwik Rai and Rudransh Singh were among the top performers in Category B. Raniya Zubair, Shahana Falak Naaz and Veer Khatri were among the other category winners. The event concluded with a prize distribution ceremony, where winners received trophies and certificates.
