The TMC nominated its Ballygunge MLA Sobhandeb Chattopadhyay, as the leader of the opposition (LoP) in the assembly.
Chattopadhyay warned that the party MLAs would hold a dharna over the alleged delay in the allotment of the LoP room in the assembly.
The TMC suffered a bruising electoral defeat in the recent assembly elections, with its tally reduced to 80 in the 294-member House. The BJP won 207 seats.
