Lucknow: The LDA is planning five multilevel parking projects worth over Rs 150 crore to ease parking shortages and reduce traffic congestion in busy parts of the city.The proposed facilities will come up at Patrakarpuram, Vivek Khand, Para, Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar Samajik Parivartan Sthal and near Ekana Stadium.The Patrakarpuram project is planned in one of Gomti Nagar’s busiest commercial areas. LDA officials said the authority will seek financial assistance from state govt.An underground multilevel parking facility has also been proposed opposite the Vivek Khand Community Centre in Gomti Nagar. The project will be built on about 750 square metres and can accommodate 350 vehicles. It will be developed below ground to preserve the existing park and green space.The LDA is already constructing a multilevel parking facility at Para on 2,700 square metres. The facility will accommodate about 680 vehicles and is being developed near the Atal Nagar housing scheme.Another facility has been proposed near Ekana Stadium. It is expected to accommodate 600 vehicles and will serve visitors during sporting events and other large gatherings.LDA vice-chairperson Prathamesh Kumar said field inspections showed an urgent need for more organised parking. He said roadside parking reduces carriageway space, slows traffic and creates congestion.Officials said the authority is also exploring similar parking projects near the city’s heritage zone, Rashtriya Prerna Sthal and other high-footfall locations.
