Bhagalpur: The District Bar Association (DBA) has expressed shock over the manner in which district court lawyer Subodh Krishna Das was arrested by police at the main gate of the court premises on Wednesday in connection with a nearly 13-year-old case.Police said Das was arrested on the basis of a pending warrant after the Tatarpur police team was informed about his presence near the court gate. Police sources said he had been evading arrest and the action followed monitoring of the case and the ongoing legal process.SSP Bhagalpur Pramod Kumar Yadav said, “The case in which arrest was made was related to a serious crime and probably related to Explosive Act in which explanation from the Tatarpur police was sought several times by the court and warning was issued to make the arrest. The police action was taken on the basis of the warrant in the case.”DBA vice-president Om Prakash Tiwari said the association was not opposed to the law or court order, but questioned the manner of the arrest. He said the association would have cooperated had police informed it about the case and warrant.DBA members alleged Das was wearing his professional attire when he was arrested and termed the manner of police action unwarranted.
