Times News NetworkKanpur: The office-bearers of the Kanpur Bar Association and the Lawyers Association on Tuesday opposed the Allahabad High Court’s directive restraining advocates from going on strike or abstaining from judicial work. The Allahabad High Court had recently directed advocates’ associations to refrain from strikes and abstain from judicial proceedings, and asked elected office-bearers and members of the associations to submit written undertakings that they would not resort to an advocates’ strike. The advocates attending the joint general house meeting of the Kanpur Bar Association and the Lawyers Association strongly opposed the directive and unanimously decided that neither the elected office-bearers nor members of the associations would submit any such undertaking. The meeting also discussed the directives of high court given in Writ No 12231 of 2025 Mohd Kafeel Vs State of UP in which Justice Vinod Kumar had passed an order that the advocates who were accused in cases which have provision of seven or more years sentence would be sent to other districts for trials.
