T’puram: A 44-year-old lawyer who went missing while bathing in Neyyar River behind Sree Krishna Temple at Neyyattinkara on Friday was found dead on Saturday after an extensive search operation by fire and rescue services personnel.The deceased was identified as Abhilash Krishnachandran. According to police, Abhilash had gone to the river for a bath on Friday afternoon when he accidentally slipped into the water and was swept away by the current. People nearby alerted the authorities after he failed to resurface.Fire and rescue services personnel launched a search operation soon after the incident. Rescue teams continued the search till late on Friday before resuming it on Saturday morning. The body was eventually recovered from the river and shifted to MCH for an autopsy.Police said the incident occurred near the river behind the temple, where locals frequently visit for bathing. Officials are examining the circumstances that led to the incident, though no foul play is suspected at this stage.Police registered a case under the provisions of unnatural death and initiated further probe.
