Ahmedabad: A 27-year-old woman lawyer has lodged a complaint with Vatva GIDC police, alleging that her former partner and his mother threatened her family and warned of circulating her photographs to defame her if she was not married to him.According to the complaint, the woman, who practices at the metropolitan court in Gheekanta, came in contact with the accused in 2021 while attending IELTS classes in Odhav with plans to pursue studies abroad. Their acquaintance developed into a relationship, which continued for nearly two years.The complainant stated that the relationship ended in June 2025 following disagreements over marriage, after which she ceased all communication with him. She alleged that the mother of the accused later contacted her parents, claiming that the two were in a relationship and also made derogatory remarks about her own son, stating that he was unemployed and had substance abuse issues.According to the complaint, after the woman got engaged in Dec last year, the accused allegedly called her mother, objecting to the engagement and questioned why it was finalised without his consent. He reportedly used abusive language and issued threats to the lawyer and her family.The complainant further alleged that her parents got repeated abusive calls from different phone numbers. The mother of the accused allegedly warned her father that she possessed photographs of the woman and would make them public.The woman approached Vatva GIDC police on Wednesday and registered a complaint. Police said further investigation was underway.
