Dimapur: A major landslide along NH-702A at New Colony in Zunheboto on Wednesday disrupted vehicular movement and damaged three houses that had been evacuated as a precautionary measure.The timely evacuation prevented any loss of life or injuries. However, another building in the vicinity developed visible cracks, raising concerns over the stability of structures in the affected area.The landslide brought a large volume of earth and debris onto the highway, affecting traffic along the NH-702A stretch. Authorities are assessing the damage and working to restore safe vehicular movement.Residents in vulnerable areas have been advised to remain alert, particularly in locations showing signs of ground movement or structural damage. No casualties had been reported at the time of filing this report.Zunheboto deputy commissioner Dharam Raj distributed relief packages from the Indian Red Cross Society to families affected by the landslide. He also met the affected residents and assured them of necessary assistance from the district administration.Further assessment of the damage to buildings, road infrastructure and surrounding areas is underway.
