Vasco: A major landslide was reported late Monday night from a hillock near Nanak Nagar at New Vaddem, Dabolim, threatening two nearby houses and their occupants.The slide was caused by incessant rainfall throughout the day. The affected spot lies near a drain, where continuous water flow loosened the slope, sending mud and boulders tumbling down. Residents in the area reported hearing cracking sounds as the earth gave way.The houses at risk belong to Irshad Ali Shaikh and his brother Abdul Daula Shaikh. The families have urged local MLA Mauvin Godinho and the state administration to take immediate measures to prevent further landslides.Talathi Gautam Salunke and social worker Vijay Satardekar, along with a former councillor, visited the site to assess the situation. Salunke has submitted a report to Mormugao mamlatdar Pravinjay Pandit, who will forward it to higher authorities for further action.
