RANCHI: An armed man, wanted in a land dealer’s murder case, was arrested after a gunfight with police in Jharkhand’s Ranchi district on Wednesday.The incident took place around 7.30 am in the Pandra outpost area.The accused, identified as Satyam Pathak (35), sustained bullet injuries in both legs during the encounter. An assistant sub-inspector (ASI) was also injured.According to police, Pathak was involved in the killing of 40-year-old Bhargav Singh, a land dealer and construction company owner, who was shot dead near OTC Ground on Tuesday. The main accused in the case, Vijay Tete, was arrested soon after the murder.“Pathak was involved in the murder of the 40-year-old Bhargav Singh. When a police team went to arrest him following a tip-off, he tried to escape after snatching a weapon from security personnel,” Ranchi SSP Rakesh Ranjan said.Police said Pathak was also wanted in several other criminal cases. During the arrest operation, two weapons were recovered from his possession, Ranchi (City) SP Paras Rana said.Officials added that the murder was linked to an ongoing land dispute.
