BENGALURU: A white Lamborghini, now under scrutiny for a daring doughnut stunt in the city’s core early Saturday, pulled off a similar act barely 100 metres away within 15 seconds, police said Wednesday, citing CCTV footage.Police investigations said the sports car, belonging to Ricky Rai, son of former don and activist late Muthappa Rai, carried out back-to-back derring-do between 2am and 3am – first near Anil Kumble Circle and second near Queen’s Circle before zooming away towards Queen’s Road 2km away.A senior officer said they will add the second incident to the already registered case, adding that “both were intentional acts,” he said. During interaction with the investigating agency, Ricky Rai told police his driver was at the wheel and he was sitting next to him. Denying any stunts on the road, Rai’s counsel G Narayanswamy chose to describe it as an instance of skillful driving, which deserves appreciation. The video of the car doing high-speed doughnuts at Anil Kumble Circle went viral on social media, prompting Cubbon Park police to unilaterally register a case of rash and negligent driving against the driver. The charges, if proved, carry up to six months in jail, a fine of up to Rs 1,000, or both.An investigating officer said they will scan more CCTV footage from the junctions that the Lamborghini passed that night.“Ricky Rai’s residence is in RMV II Stage, near Dollars Colony. We suspect the Lamborghini, which is said to have been collected from a service centre Friday evening, performed similar stunts at other junctions too,” the officer said.Ricky Rai’s counsel Narayanswamy said, “Between 2am and 3am, traffic would be minimal and nuisance (caused due to this incident) would be equally minimal. Ricky Rai was in the car, but was not driving,” he said. The car skidded when the driver applied brakes on a recently repaired road allegedly covered with mud. “The driver managed to control the vehicle and continued driving,” he said, hailing tactful handling of the situation. An investigating officer, however, said, “There was no mud on the road that had been repaired. Back-to-back acts of doughnut in two places within 15 seconds indicate it was an intentional act,” he said.
