Leh, Oct 01: Ladakh Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena has expressed a strong desire to host the World Economic Forum in Ladakh, saying the Union Territory can offer the global platform a unique setting to discuss sustainable development, ecology, connectivity and economic growth.

Addressing the first-ever Raisina Forum for Future of Diplomacy in Leh, Saxena said the event brought together diplomats, policymakers, business leaders and strategic thinkers from India and 39 countries.

Highlighting Ladakh’s strategic importance, the LG said the region stands at the intersection of global diplomacy, security and sustainable development, while facing the challenges of a fragile ecosystem and harsh climatic conditions.

He said Ladakh was pursuing development with a focus on strengthening local communities while protecting its environment and traditional cultural heritage.

Sinha highlighted initiatives aimed at improving connectivity, tourism infrastructure and the local economy, besides safeguarding water resources and the region’s fragile ecology.

He said the administration was working towards building an inclusive and resilient Ladakh and described the Raisina Forum as an opportunity to present the region’s development journey before an international audience.

The LG also shared his vision of bringing the World Economic Forum to Ladakh, saying such an event could provide an international platform to showcase the region’s approach towards sustainable and community-oriented development.
