Noida: A 30-year-old labourer died while his younger brother was seriously injured when a house roof collapsed during repairs on Sunday. The incident took place around 1pm in Dadri’s Mohalla Brahmpuri locality during the renovation work at farmer Satish Aggarwal’s house, police said.Greater Noida ADCP Abhay Kumar Mishra said, “Seven workers, including a contractor, had been repairing the house for three days. Irfaan, a resident of Aligarh, and his brother Haider were removing plaster from the roof and a nearby wall for fresh plaster when the roof collapsed, trapping them under debris. Other workers were outside for lunch and tea.” Haidar is undergoing treatment at a hospital.“The workers alerted police, following which NDRF, fire department, police and hospital teams reached the site. The brothers were taken to a nearby hospital, where Irfaan died,” he said.Dadri police station SHO Neera Mishra said that no complaint has yet been made by the victim’s family members. “We will investigate whether the workers were provided any safety equipment or not. The body has been sent for autopsy and reports are awaited. The victim’s family have been informed and they are on their way,” the SHO added. A rescue operation continued for more than three hours even after both victims were pulled from the debris and sent to hospital, a senior police officer said.People at the site could not find worker Somveer, who had come to work only today, and none of the workers had his mobile number. Police continued searching but later found Somveer, who said he had gone for a cold drink and lunch.In Feb, a labourer died and another sustained injuries when the scaffolding of an under-construction house collapsed. In Nov 2025, a 22-year-old man died while five others sustained injuries after the roof of an under-construction three-storey house collapsed in Greater Noida’s Rabupura area.
