Varanasi: A panda (priest) was honoured by the Kashi Vishwanath Dham temple administration for coming to the rescue of a devotee and his family, who accidentally transferred Rs 10,659 to the temple, instead of Rs 1,200 to buy four Sugam Darshan tickets. Through efforts of the priest, the money was restored to the devotee’s account.Temple CEO Vishwa Bhushan Mishra felicitated the priest Sanjay Pandey for his alertness, sensitivity towards devotees and compassionate act.Temple officials said Brahmadatt Sharma, arrived at Kashi Vishwanath Dham along with his family to offer prayers on Sunday. They were required to deposit Rs 1,200 for Sugam Darshan for four persons, but while making an online payment, Rs 10,659 was deposited into the temple’s account by mistake. Their bank account was emptied and the entire family found themselves in distress.Seeing the devotee family in a state of panic and worry, Sanjay Pandey took them to the office and brought the matter to the knowledge of the CEO. Acting promptly, the CEO engaged his staff to handle the devotees’ problem. After deliberation and verification of the situation, the excess amount deposited was returned to the devotees on receiving an application and verifying bank details.
