Kushalnagar municipality begins legacy waste treatment

Madikeri: Kushalnagar, which was upgraded to a municipality in 2021, now has 23 wards, up from 16.The Kushalnagar Town Panchayat, which previously had 16 wards, has had its boundaries redrawn with the govt issuing a notification.As the term of the Town Panchayat council will end on November 3 this year, civic elections will be announced for the selection of people’s representatives for the 23 wards of the municipality. A notification regarding ward-wise reservation will be issued soon, authorities confirmed.In 2014, a proposal was submitted to the govt regarding the municipality of Kushalnagar Town Panchayat, but due to technical reasons, it was not upgraded. After many complications, it was upgraded to Kushalnagar Town Municipality in 2021.The work of upgrading Kushalnagar to a municipality was done with the special interest of the then MLA, M.P. Appachchu Ranjan.Meanwhile, with the inclusion of Mullusoge in the jurisdiction of Kushalnagar Municipality, the term of office of the gram panchayat members there was curtailed to just two years. In the next elections, the Kushalnagar Municipality, including the entire revenue village of Mullusoge and the Madapatna part of GuddeHosur Gram Panchayat, will be held.
