Srinagar, Aug 30: The University of Kashmir has issued an admission update for candidates seeking admission to various undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, announcing the schedule for completing admission formalities, updating marks and participating in online counselling for vacant seats.
According to the Directorate of Admissions and Competitive Examinations (DACE), the last date for completing admission formalities for selection lists already issued for all programmes, including General, Self-Finance and NRI/NRI Sponsored Quota (except Home Science, MTM, M.Tech and MBA-NC) is Monday, August 31, 2026.
The university said fresh candidates who have not applied online so far and are interested in General, Self-Finance or NRI/NRI Sponsored Quota seats may also apply online by August 31, 2026.
The deadline for candidates to update their marks has also been fixed for August 31, 2026, up to 2 pm. The university clarified that updating marks will not create any claim for admission against selection lists that have already been issued. However, such candidates may be considered for admission against vacancies arising on or before August 31.
The university has scheduled online counselling for vacant seats on September 1 and 2, 2026. Eligible candidates have been advised to participate in the counselling process. The counselling window will remain open until 10 pm on September 2, and candidates can participate in the process from August 31 onwards.
The DACE said that all subsequent lists, except waiting lists, will be prepared and issued on the basis of online counselling conducted on September 1 and 2. Candidates who fail to participate in the online counselling process will not be considered for selection, even if they have higher merit than candidates who participate in counselling and are subsequently selected.
For online counselling, candidates have been advised to visit the official University of Kashmir website and click on the “Admissions” tab on the homepage before following the counselling process.
The university has also clarified that candidates who successfully submit the online counselling form should take a printout for reference and records, and there is no need to submit the hard copy.
