Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao has congratulated Hyderabad-born Indian Rahmath Pasha, whose extraordinary courage during the tragic incident in Bondi, Australia, helped save nearly 20 lives. KTR said that the Australian govt’s decision to grant Rahmath Pasha Permanent Residency is a matter of pride for every Indian, especially the Telugu community.KTR felicitated Rahmat Pasha at his residence on Tuesday. “Rahmat Pasha has made every Indian proud! During the tragic Bondi Beach attack in Australia, Hyderabad-born Rahmat Pasha displayed extraordinary courage and humanity. While many fled the scene in fear, he chose to stay back, helping rescue the injured and saving nearly 20 lives through his timely actions. In recognition of his heroism, the Australian government has granted Rahmat Pasha Permanent Residency and nominated him for a Bravery award. Met him today in Hyderabad and felicitated him for his yeoman service. Kudos Rahmat Pasha for your courage, compassion, and service to humanity. You are an inspiration to us all,” KTR said.Recalling the incident, KTR said that after dropping off a passenger near Bondi Beach, Rahmath Pasha heard loud noises, which he initially mistook for fireworks. When he stepped out of his vehicle to check, he realized that an attacker was carrying out a violent assault. While hundreds of people fled in fear, Rahmath Pasha chose not to leave the scene. Instead, he courageously assisted the injured, helped move them to safer locations, and played a crucial role in saving numerous lives, putting his own life at risk.The BRS leader said Rahmath Pasha’s selfless actions have brought greater recognition to Telugus across the world and serve as an inspiration to young people. He added that Rahmath Pasha has demonstrated through his actions the importance of serving society with compassion, courage, and dedication.The felicitation ceremony was attended by BRS Global NRI Coordinator Mahesh Bigala, former MLA Methuku Anand, Nishidhar Borra, Venu, and several other leaders, who congratulated and honoured Rahmath Pasha.
