Shillong: The Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) on Friday reiterated its opposition to uranium mining in Meghalaya, alleging that some MLAs and outsiders were pressurizing Domiasiat residents to sell their land at low prices for the project.Speaking after the election of a new KSU body in Domiasiat in West Khasi Hills district, KSU president Raymond Kharjana said the union would resist any attempt to revive uranium mining in the area, adding that KSU had received reports of outsiders visiting the region to influence local residents to support uranium mining and warned against such efforts.Kharjana said the union had taken up the matter with CM Conrad K Sangma on July 1 and urged had his govt to pass a resolution opposing uranium mining in the region.
