T’puram: Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) has launched four bus services in Thiruvananthapuram to strengthen public transport connectivity across the city and its coastal region.Transport minister C P John flagged off the services, saying the initiative is aimed at providing passengers with more convenient, safe and punctual travel while improving connectivity in key parts of the state capital.The new services will operate on the East Fort–Valiyathura–Vettucaud–Veli, Thampanoor–East Fort–Ambalathara–Milk Colony–Prathyasa Flat–Pratheeksha Flat–St Xavier’s Jn–Valiyathura–Kallummoodu–East Fort–Thampanoor, East Fort–Palkulangara–Pettah–Kannammoola–Medical College and Vizhinjam–Ambalathara–Poonthura routes. The corporation expects the services to improve accessibility for commuters travelling between residential neighbourhoods, commercial centres, educational institutions and the coastal belt.Speaking at the inaugural function, the minister said the launch of the new routes was part of govt’s efforts to further strengthen public transportation in Thiruvananthapuram and provide better travel facilities to people in the city and coastal areas.John also announced that KSRTC is set to introduce an interstate service from Vettucaud Church to the renowned pilgrimage centre at Basilica of Our Lady of Good Health via Nagercoil. He said all procedural formalities for the service had been completed and that it would be launched shortly.“The Vettucaud-Velankanni service will begin soon. KSRTC will continue implementing measures to improve passenger amenities and provide better services to public,” the minister said.
