Madikeri: The members of the Karnataka Rakshana Vedike (Praveen Shetty faction) protested on Monday, demanding the deportation of Bangladeshi immigrants who settled across Kodagu. The protestors threatened to intensify their struggle if the authorities do not take action in the next 40 days.Suspected Bangladeshi immigrants who are camped in various places in Kodagu should be identified and deported, they demanded, and added that stringent action must be taken against locals who are allegedly fostering immigrants in estate houses. The activists urged the Union govt to prevent illegal infiltration and urged the state govt to identify and deport the infiltrators in the state. They also submitted a memorandum in this regard.

The organisation’s district president, KN Deepak, said that the govts did not implement the Sarojini Mahishi report even after 40 years. The govt itself is giving homes to Bangladeshis in Bangalore. The fake Aadhaar cards must be cancelled immediately, and illegal immigrants must be deported, he demanded.He alleged that 62 criminal cases were registered against immigrants in 2025 in Kodagu, and said that an auto driver was attacked by illegal immigrants in Shanthalli recently. He alleged that many illegal immigrants are attempting to marry girls from Kodagu, and said that such instances were reported in Makkandur and Bhagamandala region. He demanded stringent action against traders who are generating fake documents to provide cheap manpower, and demanded the Union govt to act immediately. The protestors threatened to intensify the struggle if the memorandum does not receive any response within 40 days.
