Thiruvananthapuram: May 10 marks the 25th death anniversary of filmmaker M Krishnan Nair, one of the most popular directors of Malayalam cinema in the 1960s and 70s. The commemoration also coincides with the ongoing year-long ‘Vayalar Year’ celebrations, which began on Oct 27, 2025, marking the 50th death anniversary of poet and lyricist Vayalar Ramavarma—Krishnan Nair’s close friend and collaborator on several iconic films. To mark the occasion, Bharat Bhavan will host a special programme titled Krishnanjali on Sunday at 5pm, blending cinema, music and memories associated with the two legends. The event will feature a screening of a documentary on Krishnan Nair produced by the Kerala State Chalachitra Academy, followed by a memorial meeting, a book release and a musical presentation of songs penned by Vayalar for Krishnan Nair’s films. Earlier in the day, at 10am, the Malayalam film “Kavyamela” will be screened. The programme is jointly organised by Bharat Bhavan and the Vayalar Ramavarma Cultural Forum.tnn
