Thiruvananthapuram: The city will host ‘Krishi Vaibhav 2026′ agricultural fair from May 15 to 19. The five-day event, led by the Centre for Innovation in Science and Social Action, will be held at Putharikandam E K Nayanar Memorial Park. Organisers said the fair, spearheaded by Farmer-Producer Organisations, seeks to eliminate intermediaries and provide producers with direct market access.The programme is being organised with the support of key national agencies, including National Dairy Development Board, NABARD, National Cooperative Development Corporation and Small Farmers’ Agribusiness Consortium. Beyond a conventional exhibition, ‘Krishi Vaibhav 2026′ aims to bring together farmers, FPOs, small-scale entrepreneurs, agri-startups, machinery manufacturers, exporters and consumers under one roof. A wide range of products will be showcased and marketed, including value-added and organic produce, modern agricultural equipment, dairy technologies, saplings, seeds and Geographical Indication-tagged items. The fair will also feature information on renewable energy solutions such as solar power, waste management models and services related to banking and insurance. As part of the event, seminars and workshops led by agricultural scientists and experts will introduce participants to emerging technologies and best practices in the sector. Special sessions focusing on branding, export opportunities, value addition and govt schemes will also be conducted. Interactive platforms will be set up to enable farmers to exchange experiences and learn from successful FPO models. Organisers said the initiative also aims to ensure fair prices for farmers while offering consumers access to quality, unadulterated agricultural products at reasonable rates.
