Jaipur: Justice Kalpathi Rajendran Shriram was Monday sworn in as the new Chief Justice of Rajasthan High Court. At a ceremony held at Raj Bhavan, governor Haribhau Bagde administered the oath of office to the new CJ.Justice Shriram joined the bench of Bombay High Court in 2013 and served until Sept 26, 2024. He took over as Chief Justice of Madras High Court on Sept 27, 2024, where he served until his transfer to Rajasthan HC. His tenure at Rajasthan HC is likely to be 69 days, as Sept 27 is his retirement date.Prior to the swearing-in, chief secretary Sudhansh Pant read out the warrant of appointment and the notification issued by President Droupadi Murmu for the chief justice’s appointment.CM Bhajan Lal Sharma, Assembly Speaker Vasudev Devnani, deputy CM Diya Kumari, several cabinet ministers, DGP Rajiv Sharma, and other dignitaries were present on the occasion.Justice Shriram succeeds Chief Justice MM Srivastava, who has been transferred to the Madras High Court.
