A devastating pileup on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway in Kota left two people dead and four others injured.

KOTA: Two people were killed and four others injured in a rescue attempt following a crash that turned into a fatal chain collision on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway under Kaithun police station limits in Kota district early Friday.The incident occurred around 4 am opposite Paraliya Ki Jhopadiya, between Balapura and Gopalpura toll plazas.As per the police, a Tata six-tyre open-body trailer (RJ-14-GN-5256) had broken down and remained parked along the expressway for two days. Police said the first collision happened when a container truck (HR-47-H-2381) heading from the Delhi side rammed into the stationary trailer, trapping the moving vehicle’s driver inside the crushed cabin. Passersby and occupants of two other vehicles—a car (RJ-32-GE-8607) and a truck (HR-55-AN-6820)—stopped to help. While the six people were attempting to pull the trapped driver out, another speeding container truck (MH-12-YB-0762) hit the already-crashed container truck from behind.Circle Inspector Manoj Sikarwal said, “Two rescuers, Jomdeen Khan (50) of Rajgarh police station area in Alwar district and Sachin Gurjar of Kotputli police station area in Jaipur district, died in the second crash.” Their bodies were handed over to their families after the post-mortem examinations.Four others—Israil (58) of Alwar, Bablu of Mandsaur in Madhya Pradesh, Zakir (53) of Alawalpur in Nuh district, Haryana, and Aamin (23) of Bharatpur—were injured and admitted to New Medical College Hospital, Kota. Aamin was driving the container truck that first hit the parked trailer, police said.
