Kolkata: The Kolkata police has issued summons to Trinamool Rajya Sabha MP Derek O’Brien and Trinamool general secretary Abhishek Banerjee in connection with the ruckus following the removal of an allegedly illegal billboard at Banerjee’s office on Camac Street on Thursday.

While O’Brien was served the notice on Sunday morning to appear at the Shakespeare Sarani police station on Monday, Kolkata police served the notice to Abhishek to appear before them on Tuesday. When Kolkata police officials reached O’Brien’s residence to hand over the summons, he was not at his residence and his employee took the notice on his instructions.

Police had filed FIRs against Abhishek, Derek O’Brien and other leaders. Around 13 persons have been arrested after a ruckus broke out at Abhishek’s office when the Kolkata Police and Kolkata Municipal Corporation officials tried to remove an alleged unauthorised hoarding atop the office.

Meanwhile, Kolkata Police on Saturday registered a suo motu FIR against former West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee at the Hastings Police Station for alleged violation of Calcutta HC-imposed conditions for holding a TMCP foundation day event on Friday.
