Koderma: Police arrested the Koderma civil surgeon late on Saturday after a 15-year-old girl accused him of sexually exploiting her.After several hours of questioning and a medical examination, Dr Anil Kumar was sent to judicial custody on Sunday afternoon.Koderma SP Kumar Shivashish said an FIR had been registered on the basis of the girl’s complaint.The case came to light after the teenager, a resident of Hazaribag district, contacted the local Child Helpline on Saturday and reported the alleged abuse. The helpline team produced her before the Child Welfare Committee, where her formal statement was recorded.In her statement, the girl said she first met Kumar in 2025 at his private hospital in Koderma district, where her mother was undergoing treatment. She alleged that the doctor lured her and sexually exploited her three times over the past two months. Distressed by the alleged abuse, she contacted the helpline for assistance.After Hazaribag authorities shared the details, Koderma police formed a special team on the SP’s direction. The team arrested Kumar late on Saturday night from his farmhouse. He was kept overnight at the local police outpost before being taken to the Mahila police station for questioning and a medical examination.Shivashish said police were examining the matter from all possible angles and that further investigation was under way.
