Madikeri: Kodagu police are making security arrangements for peaceful Dasara celebrations in Madikeri and Gonikoppa on Vijayadashami Day, Oct 21, SP Bindumani said on Monday.An additional police force will be deployed in both towns to ensure the smooth conduct of festivities.In Madikeri, 1,421 police officers and staff will guard the city during the 10-temple committee’s tableau show on Oct 21.Women Pink Force personnel, including 25 women PSIs, and eight police ‘Jumbo’ teams will be deployed to prevent incidents targeting women spectators. “Special attention will be paid to prevent eve-teasing and other atrocities against women,” Bindumani said.The sale of face masks and whistles has been prohibited. An anti-sabotage check team and dog squad will be deployed to prevent illegal activities during the festivities.“Police will patrol across secluded areas in the city and 10 Cheetah bikes will be deployed for beat duty.”Similar arrangements will be made in Gonikoppal to ensure public safety during festivities in South Kodagu.
