Surat: Eco Cell police have arrested one more accused in a Rs 4.8 crore diamond cheating case involving Surat traders. The accused, Harekrishna Raval, along with his aides, allegedly cheated diamond traders by posing as foreign buyers. Police said the accused obtained details of officials from reputed international diamond firms and contacted traders using their identities. They used virtual phone numbers and displayed photographs of foreign buyers on WhatsApp to avoid suspicion. After striking deals, the accused took delivery of diamonds in Dubai, Hong Kong and Bangkok but failed to make payments. An offence was registered in October last year, following which four accused were arrested. Raval, identified as the kingpin, had been absconding and was arrested recently.
