Varanasi: A five-year-old boy, initially believed to have been kidnapped after his mother alerted Dial 112, was rescued after Mughalsarai police intercepted a car in Bhadohi district around 3.30 am on Sunday. However, the investigation revealed that the incident stemmed from a matrimonial dispute, with the child’s father taking him away.Chandauli CO (PDDU Nagar) Arun Kumar Singh said, “After it became clear that the case was a dispute between husband and wife, the father, Somveer, was warned not to indulge in such practices again and was allowed to return home. The child was handed over to his mother, Rajni Patel.”The high-voltage drama unfolded when a call was received on Dial 112. The caller, Rajni, aged around 30, claimed that two men had kidnapped her son. Acting swiftly, police examined CCTV footage and found that the vehicle was moving from Ramnagar towards the highway. Police stations along the Varanasi-Prayagraj route were alerted. The car was intercepted by Unj police in Bhadohi, and the child was rescued safely. A police team from Chandauli later brought the boy back and handed him over to his mother.During the investigation, it came to light that Rajni had been living at her parents’ house in Mughalsarai for the past two months after leaving her matrimonial home in Haryana following a family dispute. Her nine-year-old daughter was staying with Somveer.Officials said Somveer informed them that he had repeatedly asked Rajni either to return home or hand over their son, as she had taken the child without informing him. When she refused, Somveer planned to take the child away.
