Mysuru: Mysuru district police investigating a kidnap, robbery and extortion case have arrested four accused and, during the probe, uncovered two other similar crimes. Four more suspects are absconding, and a search is under way, police said.Police have recovered Rs 4.3 lakh in cash, a car, two motorcycles and five mobile phones from the arrested accused. Siddaraju of Muddegowdanahundi, Karthik, Purushotham and Anand have been remanded to judicial custody.SP Mallikarjun Baldandi said the breakthrough came following a complaint lodged by Ramu of Muddegowdanahundi village at the Varuna police station on July 16. Based on the complaint, police formed special teams and tracked the suspects using technical evidence and intelligence inputs.According to the complaint, Ramu was allegedly kidnapped on July 16 at around 8.30pm while travelling on his scooter from his farmhouse to his house in Muddegowdanahundi. Near Javaregowda Katte, a car reportedly intercepted him, blocked his path and abducted him. The accused allegedly robbed him of a 30-g gold chain, two gold rings weighing 10g each, and Rs 50,000 in cash.Police said the kidnappers initially demanded Rs 40 lakh for his release. After Ramu told them he could arrange only Rs 16 lakh, they allegedly agreed and released him the following day after collecting the money.The investigation was led by Mysuru Rural circle inspector DB Jayaprakash. Acting on credible information and technical analysis, police detained Karthik KM on July 26 and later arrested three others. During interrogation, the accused allegedly confessed to the crime.Investigators said the accused also admitted involvement in two earlier abduction-for-ransom cases. One incident, reported in Nov 2025, involved Ravi of Kuvegal village, from whom the accused allegedly collected Rs 18 lakh. In another case, about five months ago, Suresh of Kuppegala village was allegedly abducted, and Rs 5 lakh was collected as ransom.
