Ranchi: The Kendriya Ramnavmi Mahasamiti (KRM) on Tuesday withdrew its call for Khunti bandh, leading to opening of markets and shops after one and a half days. KRM president Anup Kumar Sahu said that during the meeting with the local administration, he demanded that names of innocent persons in the FIRs lodged in connection with the stone-pelting incident in Murhu be withdrawn.The administration filed around a dozen FIRs against 30 to 35 known people and around 250 unknown people in connection with the clash between two groups on Saturday. Police arrested several persons in this connection.Chairing the meeting of administrative officials and members from different communities on Tuesday, Khunti deputy commissioner R Ronita assured that legal and impartial action would be taken in the cases.Khunti superintendent of police (SP) Manish Toppo said, “The clash in Murhu was the result of trade rivalry between two groups who used the names of their communities to assault each other. Police have lodged the FIRs on the basis of complaints. Action would, however, be taken based on evidence.” The shops have started opening in the district after the call was withdrawn. Prohibitory order under Section 163 of BNSS would be in force in Murhu in the coming days.
