The process of the appointment of the new VC for the Berhampur University has already been started by the state govt by issuing an advertisement, inviting applications for the prestigious post.

Berhampur: Asima Sahu, the vice-chancellor (VC) of Khallikote Unitary University (KUU), Berhampur, has become the new VC in charge of Berhampur University. She took the charge on Wednesday evening following the direction of governor-cum-chancellor of the state universities, Haribabu Kumbhampati.

The four-year term of the former vice-chancellor of the Berhampur University, Geetanjali Dash, ended on Wednesday. Sahu will remain the VC in charge of Berhampur University for six months, or until the joining of a new VC on regular basis, or until the further order, sources said. Sahu was appointed the KKU VC last month.

The process of the appointment of the new VC for the Berhampur University has already been started by the state govt by issuing an advertisement, inviting applications for the prestigious post. The last date of filing the applications through email is May 24, while submission of hard copy through speed post is on or before May 29.

The higher education department has invited the application for the post of VC from the persons with distinguished academic and administrative excellence and well-rounded personality with a minimum 10 years of experience as professor in a university system or 10 years of experience in an equivalent position in reputed research or academic organisation. The age of the applicants should be below 66 years, as of August 7, 2026, the advertisement said.
