PUNE: The ongoing investigation into the death of Pune businessman Ketan Agarwal has revealed new details about how the prime accused Siya Goyal and co-accused Chetan Chaudhary first became part of the Goyal family’s circle.According to police, the family first came to know about Siya’s closeness to Chetan during a community cricket match in January.However, investigators said the family allegedly ignored her relationship due to the significant difference in the financial status of the two families and went ahead with her engagement to Ketan Agarwal, who belonged to a wealthy business family.On Thursday, Siya’s father, Pravin Goyal, has denied that the family had any knowledge of her alleged relationship with Chetan Chaudhary.“We did not have any prior knowledge about Siya’s love affairs. Siya was a simple girl. She is 19 years old. I don’t know anything about him. Where did Chetan come from? I have never seen his face, nor have I ever spoken to him. He has never been to our house,” Pravin Goyal said.He also rejected claims that Siya had shown reluctance towards her arranged marriage with Ketan Agarwal.“Siya never expressed any displeasure about this marriage. Ever since the engagement, she only spoke to Ketan. I don’t believe she agreed to anything like this,” he added.Police are verifying multiple aspects of the case, including statements from family members, to establish how the accused duo became linked to the family and whether this information was shared internally.As part of the investigation, Pune Rural Police on Friday recorded the statement of Siya’s brother, Sahil Goyal.“Preliminary investigation suggests that Sahil was aware of his sister’s relationship with Chetan Chaudhary. We are verifying whether he shared this information with other family members,” a police officer said.Both Siya Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary are currently in seven-day police custody till June 29 as investigators continue their probe.
