T’puram: The first organised community in the state dedicated exclusively to quantum technologies was launched here on Monday, with the aim of building a skilled workforce in emerging areas such as quantum computing, communication and sensing.Quantum Technologies Interest Group was launched under MuLearn, the state’s student innovation and peer-learning platform supported by GTech (Group of Technology Companies), at an event titled ‘Quantum Tech Matrix’.Transport minister C P John inaugurated the initiative and said the state should prepare young talent to tap opportunities emerging under Centre’s National Quantum Mission. He said the new community would help build the talent pool and ecosystem required for the country’s growing quantum technology sector.The interest group is intended to bring together students, researchers, faculty members and industry professionals through regular learning sessions, workshops, mentorship programmes and industry interactions. It will focus on areas including quantum computing, quantum communication and quantum sensing.More than 50 students, researchers, faculty members and technology professionals participated in the launch event.
