Madikeri: A woman from Kochi in Kerala has gone missing during her visit to Tadiyandamol, the highest peak in Kodagu district.According to Kodagu district police, Sharanya, 36, went to the tourist site on Thursday, but did not return. Sharanya, who works as a techie, travelled alone from her state, and stayed at a homestay in Yavakapady village. She booked a ticket online for trekking. As Sharanya was alone, she was sent with other tourists as a precautionary measure — wild elephants roam in the area.When Sharanya, who works as a techie, did not return even when other tourists came back on Thursday evening, the locals informed the forest department staff. Later, forest officials, police and villagers searched the hill, but could not locate her. Due to darkness, the search operation was suspended late on Thursday evening, said Kudiyara Muthappa, a local who informed the foresters about the missing woman. The team resumed the search early on Friday morning. Kodagu SP Bindu Mani said the woman’s family is being updated about the search-related developments.DCF (Madikeri) Abhishek said that five search teams, including two with police personnel, have been formed. “We are searching at many locations. Kodagu district police dog squad is also involved in the operation, and drones are also being used,” the DCF added.Tadiyandamol is not a tough track, and one can reach back the foothill easily without being lost, the DCF explained.
