Krishnagiri: A man from Kerala was arrested for smuggling about 170 grams of Methamphetamine and 10 narcotic pills in a private bus near Hosur in Krishnagiri district, early on Saturday morning.The arrested has been identified as K Jyothis, 28, from Palakkad, Kerala. He was apprehended when SIPCOT police stopped a private bus heading from Bengaluru to Coimbatore, for a routine vehicle check at Jujuwadi checkpoint in Hosur, near Karnataka border.SSI Ravichandran and constable Murugan, who were on duty, checked the belongings of passengers and became suspicious of the activities of one person. “A search of his bag resulted in the seizure of the drugs worth several lakhs,” the SSI said. During subsequent interrogation, Jyothis confessed that he had smuggled the drugs following instructions from Santosh from Palakkad, who stays in Madukkarai and works as a painter. SIPCOT police have since handed over both the arrested person and the seized drugs to the Hosur Prohibition Enforcement Wing for further proceedings.
