T’puram: The state cabinet decided to extend the term of Ravada A Chandrasekhar as director general of police (DGP) for another year. This extension aligns with the Supreme Court‘s order in the Prakash Singh case. Chandrasekhar, who was supposed to retire on June 30, 2026, will now have his appointment extended until June 30, 2027. Meanwhile, 51 additional posts will be created in the police department by upgrading positions equivalent to police constable drivers to four sub inspector drivers, 12 assistant sub inspector drivers and 35 head constable drivers. This is to address the inadequacy in the number of feeder posts compared to promotional posts and the stagnation in employee promotions. The cabinet also decided to form self-help groups named ‘Sushakti’ under Kerala State Disability Welfare Corporation for the upliftment and comprehensive empowerment of persons with disabilities. It decided to approve the society’s organizational principles and bylaws. Approval of post determination It was also decided to approve the post determination for the 2024-25 academic year in govt higher secondary schools in the state. Appointment under area incentive scheme It was decided to provide appointments to 34 teachers and one non-teaching staff member who were appointed before Sept 9, 2021, in schools under Area Incentive Programme. The appointment will be considered a special case with humanitarian consideration, subject to confirmation by the director of public education that the necessary posts are available. Lease approval for Azhikkal PortA decision was made to lease 38.88 hectares of land in Azhikode North village in Kannur, and 27.27ha in Mattool village, totalling around 5.16ha, to Malabar International Ports and SEZ Ltd for the development of Azhikkal Port, subject to conditions. Salary revision for permanent staff at KinfraThe decision was made to implement the 11th salary revision for permanent employees in govt-approved posts at Kinfra, effective from June 20, 2022. Salary increase under MGNREGSA 10% salary increase will be implemented from April 1, 2025, for contract employees in various posts under MGNREGS. Fingerprint bureau A new fingerprint bureau with four posts will be established in Kannur Police Rural district, the only police district without a district fingerprint bureau. The posts will include one tester inspector, two fingerprint experts, and one fingerprint searcher. Term extension The decision was made to extend the term of Manoj N K, director of the bureau of public enterprises, department of planning and economic affairs, on a contractual basis. TendersA tender worth around Rs 12 crore was approved for the construction of the Ezhuthumpara bridge across Churiyod River in Kongad, Palakkad. A tender worth around Rs 27.36 crore was approved for the project ‘Augmentation of WSS to Kochi City and Adjoining Panchayats: Urgent measures at 225 MLD Water Treatment Plant, Aluva, for improving the drinking water supply to Kochi City and adjoining areas, incorporating the essential rehabilitation works’.
