T’puram: The cabinet, on Friday, approved draft guidelines related to the general criteria for granting additional financial assistance to the dependants of those who were killed or injured in wildlife attacks.Accordingly, families of the deceased will receive Rs 4 lakh from state disaster response fund (SDRF) and Rs 10 lakh as financial assistance from forest department. Families of those who die due to snake, bee or wasp attacks will receive Rs 4 lakh from SDRF.Those who suffer 40-60% disability following such attacks will receive Rs 74,000 from SDRF and Rs 1,26,000 from forest department. People with over 60% disability will get Rs 2,50,000. Those with serious injuries requiring more than a week of hospitalization will receive Rs 16,000 from SDRF and Rs 84,000 from forest department. People requiring less than a week of hospitalization will receive Rs 5,400 from SDRF and 94,600 from forest department.Nod to use patta land for other purposesThe cabinet approved the formation of Kerala Land Assignment (Permission for Use of Patta Land for Other Purposes) Rules 2026. The rules waive fees for buildings constructed for residential, agricultural, or educational purposes, markets, places of worship, public needs, cultural institutions, clubs and charitable purposes.Additionally, commercial or industrial buildings with an area smaller than 5,000 sq ft will not incur any fee. Buildings between 5,000 and 10,000 sq ft will be charged 1% of the property’s fair value. Buildings over 10,000 sq ft will be charged 2% of the fair value. For other uses, 5% of the fair value will be charged.Film policy approvedKerala State Film Policy, prepared after discussions with individuals from all sectors of the film industry and considering ideas shared at the cinema conclave as well as feedback gathered from the public, was approved. The approved policy includes 92 recommendations and suggestions covering all aspects of the state’s film industry.
