Thiruvananthapuram: Four persons were injured after a gang allegedly attacked them with a sword and machete at Muthiyavila near Kattakada on Saturday night.The injured were Kattakada natives Manu, 26, Mahesh, 24, Sharath, 26 and Amal, 24. Kattakada police have booked Lalu, Mujeeb, Abhilash, Vathi, Saran, Vishnu, another Vishnu and Manu in connection with the incident. Police are yet to make any arrests.According to police, the accused allegedly bore a grudge against complainant Manu after Mujeeb, the second accused, was arrested by the excise department in an MDMA case weeks ago. The accused suspected that it was Manu who alerted authorities about the MDMA sale, police said.The latest clash reportedly occurred near AMC Hall at Muthiyavila when Manu objected to some of the accused allegedly consuming drugs in public. This led to an argument, following which the accused allegedly assaulted Manu and his friends.Police said Lalu allegedly attempted to hack Manu with a machete. Though he managed to block the attack, he sustained injuries to his hands. Abhilash allegedly attacked Mahesh with a sword, severing part of his right hand, while another accused allegedly used a knife and iron rod to attack Manu’s friends.Though police rushed to the spot after being alerted by locals, the accused fled by then. As per the statements given by the injured men, police booked the accused.
