Chandigarh: Punjab governor Gulab Chand Kataria Thursday felicitated Commonwealth Games 2026 silve medallist and international weightlifter Harjinder Kaur at Punjab Raj Bhavan, recognising her achievement on the international stage.Congratulating the athlete, Kataria said her performance had brought pride to Punjab and the country. He praised her dedication, discipline and perseverance, which, he said, had helped her consistently excel in international competitions.Harjinder, who won a bronze medal at the Birmingham Commonwealth Games in 2022, added a silver medal to her tally at the 2026 edition, underlining her sustained success in the sport.The governor said sportspersons such as Harjinder serve as role models for the younger generation and encourage more youngsters, especially girls, to take up sports and strive for excellence.
