Kolkata: Kartik Maharaj (Swami Pradiptananda) has targeted Bengal’s intellectuals, calling them ‘Brihannala’ (the identity Arjuna assumed in Mahabharata during his stay at the court of King Virata as a transgender dance trainer).Kartik Maharaj’s comment came during his address at a Gita recital event on Sunday in which CM Suvendu Adhikari and Union minister Sukanta Majumdar were also present. Referring to a story in Ramayana in which Lord Rama granted a boon to Kinnars, Kartik Maharaj said, “Brihannalas could neither go to heaven or hell. They asked Lord Rama where should they go. Rama told them they would be reborn as intellectuals in Bengal.”Urging Bengali Hindus to unite, Kartik Maharaj also said, “It is time to take a vow that the demon will be slayed. Bengali Hindus should prepare for a tough fight.”
