Bengaluru: As many as 25 aspiring veterinary medical officers from across the state Saturday lodged a complaint with city police, alleging a cash-for-jobs scam and irregularities in the recent Karnataka Public Service Commission recruitment for 400 veterinary officer posts.In the FIR, suspended KPSC chairperson Shivashankarappa Sahukar has been named accused number one, followed by other KPSC officials.The complaint was lodged by veterinary doctor Manjunath from Hassan and 24 others with Vidhana Soudha police, citing materials like audio leaks demanding Rs 80-lakh bribes, question paper leaks at resorts and favoured high scores for underperforming applicants. One such candidate is a close relative of Sahukar, who was suspended recently on nepotism charges.

The FIR has the names of more than 25 candidates, who, according to the victims, passed the exams through fraudulent ways.The exam for 400 posts (342 general, 58 backlog) took place in Jan and final results were out on July 17.On Thursday, over 50 aggrieved aspirants and doctors gathered outside KPSC building near Vidhana Soudha, claiming select candidates who previously failed veterinary degree and UPSC exams secured top scores in this KPSC test. They claimed groups were taken to resorts for pretest answers. “Sooguresh Jaka, a close relative of Sahukar, failed in two subjects in degree exams in the past. Later, he passed degree with minimum marks. But in this KPSC exam, he scored more than 450 marks, which indicates that something is wrong,” read the FIR.According to the complaint copy: “The mobile phones of the suspected successful candidates were switched off on the day of exam and a day before it. These candidates were given answer scripts with the question paper one day before the exams. Some candidates intentionally left blank optical mark recognition (OMR) sheets, which were later filled by the agents.”
