Kanpur: Heavy rainfall brought much-needed relief to residents from sultry weather conditions on Saturday evening, with the city receiving showers for nearly half an hour around 4pm.The rain later weakened into moderate to light drizzle, but the sky remained heavily overcast after the showers, raising the possibility of more rains late evening and night.The maximum temperature was recorded at 33.4°C, while the heat index made it feel as high as 39°C. The minimum temperature stood at 25.4°C.According to the CSA weather observatory, the maximum relative humidity was recorded at 97%.North-westerly winds blew across the city at a low speed of around 6.8 kmph, failing to provide much relief to people outdoors. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast cloudy skies, thunderstorms and rain across all districts of the Kanpur division during the next 24 hours.In Kanpur Nagar and Kanpur Dehat, cloudy conditions are expected to continue, with a 40 to 75% probability of light to moderate showers, accompanied by thunderstorms, particularly during the evening and night.CSA University weather expert S.N. Pandey said that partly to heavily cloudy skies are expected to prevail over the next five days.Light to moderate rainfall, accompanied by thunderstorms and strong winds, is likely in the area.
