Kanpur: The body of a paint trader was found inside his house in Vishva Bank A Block under Barra police station area of the South city on Monday afternoon, after a tenant alerted police when a foul smell started coming from the house.Barra police and a forensic team reached the spot, began an investigation, took the body into custody and sent it for postmortem.The deceased was identified as Anurag Baghel, a resident of Vishva Bank A-1 Block, who ran a paint business. His family includes wife Priyanka, son Hans and daughter Chitranshi. The deceased’s younger brother and auto parts trader Chetan Baghel said that in connection with the children’s studies, his sister-in-law Priyanka has been living in Delhi for about the last 6 months. Since the family moved to Delhi, Anurag had been living alone in the house for about the last 6 months.A young woman lived on rent on the first floor of the house, and her route for coming and going was through the outside stairs.According to Chetan’s wife Devendri, Anurag was last seen walking outside the house on the evening of July 30, and he was not seen after that.At around 12 on Monday afternoon, the female tenant living on the first floor sensed a strong foul smell from the lower portion. When she came downstairs and looked, the room door was open and Anurag’s body was lying on the bed inside. A strong stench was rising from the body. The tenant immediately informed the family members and the police.Forensic experts collected fingerprints and other evidence from the scene. Looking at the condition of the body, it is being estimated that the death occurred 2 to 3 days earlier. Station in charge Ravindra Shrivastava said that in the preliminary investigation, the matter does not appear suspicious. The body has been sent for postmortem, and the exact cause of death will be known only after the report arrives.
