KANPUR:A father and his son were stabbed to death and another son was critically injured in a road rage attack after a collision between two bikes in Kanpur late Sunday night, police said.The incident took place near Yashoda Nagar Bypass in front of Vrindavan Guest House, under the Naubasta police station area, where three youths allegedly attacked the father and his sons with knives following a dispute arising from the collision. The double murder spread panic in the area, and police launched an investigation and intensified the search for the accused.According to information, Shivnarayan Trivedi, a resident of the Kidwai Nagar police station area, worked with his sons Shivam and Satyam at Kanak Marble in the Marble Market. On Sunday evening, all three were returning home by bike after finishing work when their bike collided with another bike in the Naubasta area. Eyewitnesses said an argument broke out and quickly turned into a violent altercation.It was alleged that the three youths on the other bike pulled out knives and launched a rapid attack, and blows were also struck with a helmet. Shivnarayan and his son Shivam were seriously injured, while Satyam also fell bleeding profusely. Both Shivnarayan and Shivam were killed with knife blows to the chest, stomach, and face.Police arrived after passersby alerted them and sent the injured to hospital, where doctors declared Shivnarayan and Shivam dead. Satyam’s condition was reported to be critical.Angered by the attack, local people gathered at the scene and caught one of the attackers, identified as Shiva Verma, and handed him over to Naubasta police. Police said Shiva Verma was a resident of Akbarpur, Kanpur Dehat. The remaining two attackers, identified by police as Karan Verma and Utsav Awasthi, fled on foot.Police said they were scanning CCTV camera footage from the surrounding area. The broad daylight double murder created an atmosphere of fear and outrage in the area.Police Commissioner, Kanpur Nagar, Raghubir Lal stated that late Sunday evening, a road rage incident occurred in Virat Nagar under Naubasta police station jurisdiction. Preliminary investigation revealed that Shivnarayan Trivedi (60), Shubham Trivedi (25), and Satyam Trivedi (30) were returning by bike from their workplace, a marble shop. During this time, their bike collided with 3 persons riding another bike, following which a dispute and scuffle broke out between both parties, in which sharp weapons and a helmet were used in the attack. In the said incident, Shivnarayan Trivedi and Shubham Trivedi were seriously injured and died during treatment at Lala Lajpat Rai Hospital, while Satyam Trivedi was injured and is currently undergoing treatment at the hospital.In connection with the incident, one accused has been taken into custody at the scene and is being interrogated. Several police teams are continuously conducting raids to arrest the other absconding accused involved in the incident. Necessary legal proceedings are being carried out in the matter.
