Nagpur: Junnardeo railway station in Central Railway’s Nagpur Division has been redeveloped into a modern passenger-friendly facility under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme (ABSS) at a cost of 25.40 crore. The upgraded station is set to be dedicated to the nation shortly.An NSG-5 category station, Junnardeo has three platforms and handles 10 trains daily, catering to an average of 2,867 passengers every day. Passenger footfall has nearly tripled over the past decade, prompting the need for a major infrastructure upgrade.The redevelopment includes a 12-metre-wide, 121-metre-long foot overbridge equipped with four lifts and four ramps, a new booking office-cum-waiting hall, an AC waiting room, additional platform shelters and parking facilities.Designed to reflect local architecture and heritage, the station also offers improved accessibility with Divyang-friendly facilities, modern signage, better sanitation and enhanced passenger circulation.Junnardeo serves as a gateway to tourist destinations such as Tamia Hills, Patalkot Valley, Karanji Waterfall and Hinglaj Mata Temple., alongside supporting the coal mining belt of Western Coalfields Limited (WCL).
