Patna: The Special Vigilance Unit (SVU) caught a junior engineer while he was accepting a bribe of Rs9,000, in Muzaffarpur district on Thursday. The team caught him and registered a case under the Prevention of Corruption Act.The arrested junior engineer was identified as Aman Kumar, posted in Sahibganj nagar parishad in Muzaffarpur.According to the information, one Rajkumar Tiwari filed a written complaint at the SVU office in Patna alleging that Aman demanded a bribe of Rs25,000 in exchange for granting permission for installation of paver block in Sahibganj. After receiving the complaint, the SVU conducted a probe into the matter, and a special raiding team was formed under the leadership of SVU DSP, Raj Kumar Singh. As soon as the complainant handed over Rs9,000 to Aman as the first instalment of the bribe, the team caught him.An SVU statement said, “A case was registered against the accused under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act 1988 (as amended in 2018). After the arrest, the team left for Patna with the accused, where further interrogation was conducted.”The SVU officials said evidence was being compiled against the accused JE, and it was also being investigated whether other people were involved in this corrupt practice.
