Mandya: Poor sanitation, security lapses, a teacher shortage and irregularities in attendance records came to light during a surprise inspection by senior civil judge of Pandavapura JMFC R Mahesh at Kittur Rani Chennamma Residential School in Moolakoppalu village, Pandavapura.Judge Mahesh reached the residential school after court hours and found both the principal and hostel warden absent. Expressing displeasure, he waited for nearly an hour before the principal arrived.The judge found the compound wall in a dilapidated condition and noted poor sanitation and inadequate security arrangements. He directed the authorities to take immediate corrective measures to ensure students’ safety and welfare.Students told him that an acute teacher shortage had disrupted regular classes and affected learning. Judge Mahesh assured them that their grievances would be brought to the notice of the authorities concerned.He also inspected the hostel kitchen, food preparation, breakfast arrangements, hot water supply, sanitation facilities and overall living conditions.While verifying attendance registers of contract workers, the judge noticed several blank entries and questioned the principal over the irregular maintenance of records.Judge Mahesh directed the principal to submit detailed accounts of expenditure on the compound wall, food supplies and day-to-day hostel operations to the court office. He also cautioned against any misuse of public funds after questioning allegations of inadequate use of food ingredients despite sufficient govt grants.Speaking to reporters, the judge said a detailed report on the inspection would be submitted to the high court.Advocates’ association president Gangaraju and secretary Mohan Kumar were present during the inspection.
