Ranchi: Consumer services, quality power supply and regulatory reforms dominated discussions at the State Advisory Committee (SAC) meeting of the Jharkhand State Electricity Regulatory Commission (JSERC) held in Ranchi on Tuesday under the chairmanship of Justice Navneet Kumar.The committee reviewed key issues related to the state’s power sector and stressed the need for a consumer-centric electricity distribution system. Discussions focused on timely and accurate billing, reliable power supply, maintenance of voltage and service standards, speedy grievance redressal and transparent, time-bound delivery of new connections and other services.Representatives of industrial and commercial organisations also raised concerns regarding 24×7 power supply, consumer services, correction of faulty bills and reliability of electricity distribution.The meeting further discussed issues such as the possibility of a second power distribution licensee in Ranchi and Dhanbad, net metering, group and virtual net metering, rooftop solar systems, solar inverters, grid-forming inverters and electricity duty.Committee members emphasised strengthening consumer protection, transparency, service quality and power reliability while creating an electricity ecosystem that supports Jharkhand’s industrial and economic growth. The panel decided to seek inputs from stakeholders and examine various suggestions from a regulatory perspective before taking appropriate action, it said in a statement.
