Berhampur: Cyber miscreants have allegedly duped a 35-year-old job seeker in Ganjam district of Rs 9.32 lakh on the pretext of arranging a high-salary job in Russia. “We have registered a case after the victim lodged a complaint. Documents related to the transaction through UPI and the agency that lured the job seeker to provide overseas recruitment are under verification,” said Shankar Panda, IIC, cyber police station, here on Wednesday.Police said the victim provided the amount online from Feb 26 to April 17 this year. The victim lodged an FIR in the police station after they did not reply to him despite him trying several times for the last two months, police said.The victim, a graduate, was desperately searching for a job for the last some years. During this period, he came in contact with the agency through social media. It asked him to provide Rs 80,000 initially for his passport, visa and some other expenditure. He transferred the money online on Feb 26 and subsequently the entire amount in phases.
